Welcome! Dr. Greta Tam

Dr Greta Tam received her doctor of medicine and doctor of surgery degree from University of Hong Kong, after matriculating at the University of Oxford to study biochemistry. She subsequently obtained her master’s degree in global health at the University of California, San Francisco. She trained in Emergency Medicine and Surgery in Hong Kong.

She has a long-standing interest in global health, particularly in infectious diseases. She has worked at the Shanghai Medical Children’s centre, Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity in New Delhi, Grameen Bank in Dhaka as well as spending time at the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit in Ho Chi Minh. Her master’s thesis was on anti-malarial drug resistance in Ugandan children. She decided to re-locate to Hong Kong, her home country, after completing the degrees.

With a passion in Humanitarian related works, Dr. Tam is now working as a clinical tutor under the Collaborating Centre for Oxford University and CUHK for Disaster and Medical Humanitarian Response (CCOUC). Dr. Tam is by default the team doctor in all CCOUC field-based trips, and she is also the consultant for the Oxford online disaster courses and is currently working on a series of case study on Bhutan’s fire. Her long term goal is to develop a structured and recognized Public Health Humanitarian Initiative, in which more students can be benefited from the unique field-based experience through experiential learning.
