Biography

Prof. Su joined the School as an Instructor in January 2009. She received her Doctor of Science degree in Epidemiology from Harvard University School of Public Health in 2009 and Master of Public Health in Community Health Education from Temple University in the United States (US) in 2004. Prof. Su has extensive experience in research on breast cancer etiology, screening, and prevention. Her doctoral research focused on identifying molecular, genetic, and adolescent dietary risk factors of proliferative benign breast disease, a marker of increased breast cancer risk, in Nurses’ Health Study II, one of the largest cohort studies on women’s health in the U.S. She also involved in research to assess the relations between birth weight, childhood, adolescent and adult body size measures, adult physical activity and inactivity, and alcohol consumption and postmenopausal plasma prolactin levels. Her master’s research concentrated on population-based needs assessment surveys and intervention studies on breast and cervical cancer prevention and tobacco control.

Currently Prof. Su is working on research projects on knowledge, attitudes, and practices of breast cancer screening among Hong Kong women, pharmacoepidemiology to examine the anti-hypertensive and anti-diabetes drug use patterns in primary care settings in Hong Kong, and epidemiology of dementia in Guangdong and Guangxi.
